Incarnation 1. We kregen de mogelijkheid om CEO & Producer Andrey Sharapov wat vragen te stellen in een Q&A over dit point and click avontuur.
Karma.
* How did you guys come together?* Hoe zijn jullie samen gekomen?
At first Alexander (Alexander Kuvshinov) started to do an animated series about the laws of karma, but when he looked at the results he decided to create the game. First the prototype was built with his colleague in Flash and then submitted to a game contest. I found the game there and really liked the amazing graphics and the concept of the game, but I saw that the team had no game production experience and proposed to help as a game producer. We’ve worked on the concept, game-design and production plan for some time and were very happy with the results, so we decided to go forward and create the game together and founded AuraLab. After that we employed a programmer with Unity3D experience, Yury Kuptsevich. Yury worked previously on Outforce, one of my previous games, and built a second (current) prototype in Unity3D. I asked Roman Povolotsky to help us, he’s another very experienced game producer and we’ve worked together previously aswell. He loved the visuals and idea behind Karma, so here we are.
Actually no, but it is the first big adventure point-n-click game. It’s really a new experience. We actually specialized on browser based MMO and social games before.
It’s a lot of fun to create an absolutely surreal world, and it opens a lot of opportunities for funny animations and characters. I hope our players will have fun too. Another reason was that Pip (the main character) will have his first incarnation as a worm. A human might be one of his last incarnations if the “Incarnation 1” will enjoy some commercial success; then we’ll do another series.
Saving the nature is the most clear global karmically good things we can imagine. So we chose from funds a company who does just that. And WWF is just one of the biggest funds, so we can be sure that our money will help to make this world a better place with them.
No, but we will create alternative ways to pass through most of the hard puzzles. At least we will put some hints in the game that will help solve our puzzles in the Astral World (that Pip can see via Astral Vision, it’s his special ability), but the player will need to spend some time to find it. So it wont be very easy and won’t spoil gameplay for hardcore players.
Because we thought that images are more of universal and easy to understand language than words. Pip is a worm and can’t read, but can communicate. It’s more atmospheric to give players this kind of communication instead of human languages. And we like it in games from Amanita Design studio such as Botnicula and Machinarium. I think they were of an influence on our decision about it.
John Kukaryamba (from Zmeiraduga band) is a friend of Alexander Kuvshinov, they knew eachother a long time before we started this project. When I listened to the music that Alexander chose for the game – I said that it’s the best choice for the game. I really like the music of Zmeiraduga band, so we had no doubts about it.
Very exciting to do this kind of project, it’s a lot of fun really! Alexander is very creative and every day he gushes new ideas and images. Part of my job as a producer is just to stop him sometimes because we can’t put all of his ideas in one game. So we will do a next series if “Incarnation 1” will have success.
Website
