Er waren 13 categorieën waaronder: Action & Adventure, Artistic Achievement, Casual, Gameplay, Multiplayer, Original Score, Sports, Strategy, Story & Character, Technical Achievement, Use of Audio en natuurlijk Best Game of the Year.In de catagorie Best Game of the Year zaten Fallout 3, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Gears of War 2 en GTA IV. GTA IV werd uiteindelijk gekozen als winaar.Best PlayStation 3 Game werd LittleBigPlanet en Best Studio Award ging naar Media Molecule. Gears of War 2 won Best Xbox360 Game en Best Shooter en World of Goo won de Best Independent Game award.
